New Free-Range development about to ‘kick off’ in Victoria
A free-range broiler farm development is due to commence in early 2019, with the land purchase now unconditional for a property in Boort, Victoria. Queensland-based company Santrev will be building the eight-house free-range farm 250 kilometres from Melbourne with the possibility of further expansion in the future. Santrev continues to expand its exposure to large self-managed facilities following recent projects of 42 sheds and 30 sheds respectively in SA and WA as a way to drive Research and Development initiatives and to better understand its clients’ needs for such large projects.
The eight-house farm will receive the chicks from Hazeldenes and the houses will be accredited under the RSPCA’s Approved Farming Scheme. Santrev Managing Director and co-owner of the property, Luke Trevanion said, “Santrev is really excited to finally have its own farm growing for Hazeldene’s. Hazeldene’s are a proud and progressive Australian family business, we have a strong relationship after working with them successfully for many years”.
The development will be a complete turnkey project, with civils soon to start. Santrev will be managing all aspects of the project from initial design and planning, certification, earthworks, water and electrical reticulation, gas infrastructure, construction of state-of-art poultry houses and ancillary buildings as well as equipment supply and install. Santrev has worked with most established poultry suppliers, from equipment providers to earthmoving, electrical, plumbing and gas contractors, as well as building certifiers and local councils. Construction Manager Adam Berry will be overseeing the project to ensure one point of contact with the client with a clear line of communication and accountability. Adam has been with Santrev for seven years’ and brings over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has previously developed other large projects for Santrev including a 20 poultry shed project in Warwick Queensland.
Luke said “One of the goals with this development is to create an environment where the bird’s welfare is maximised and better access to the range is achieved through innovative design. I am excited to leave the project in the hands of the Santrev team, confident the project will deliver a winning result”.
